Man Took $8,000 Worth of Materials from Watertown Library

Suspect has three library cards, checked out 140 items and never returned them.

Watertown Free Public Library Director Leone Cole told police 140 items, worth $8,000, were stolen from the library by the same person.

Most of the items were movies and video games, along with a laptop computer, said Police Lt. Michael Lawn. The thefts were reported Dec. 16 at 5:09 p.m.

The suspect has three library cards from different communities with the same name and date of birth but different addresses, Lawn said.

"Between Oct 20 and Dec. 6, 140 items were checked out and never returned," Lawn said.

Police are investigating.
