Man Was Attacked as He Walked on Charles River Path in Watertown

The attacker stole cash from the man's wallet, and then fled the area.

A man was attacked on the last week, and the attacker stole money from his wallet before fleeing, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.

The 54-year old Watertown resident was walking to work around 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 10 when the attack occured. He was on the bike path between Howard Street and Bridge Street when a man yelled at him.

“When he turned around the man punched him right in the face,” Grady said.

The man did not get a good look at his attacker, Grady said.

“He may have been wearing white sweatpants and a white pair of sneakers,” Grady said.

The man suffered a fat lip and some loose teeth, Grady said.

Watertown Police continue to investigate the incident, Grady said, and they have alerted the Massachusetts State Police and Newton Police about the attack.
