Motorcyclist Leads Police on Chase Through Watertown Before Being Arrested
The 24-year-old Boston man sped away from an officer who had pulled him over for having no license plate.

A 24-year-old Boston man sped away from Watertown Police on Main Street before being stopped at the bridge on North Beacon Street and being arrested on multiple charges, said Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.
An officer patrolling on Main Street spotted a motorcycle with no license plate near the intersection of Main Street and Waverley Avenue.
The officer put on his lights and pulled over the motorcycle rider.

“The vehicle pulled to the right to stop, and as the officer positioned his cruiser and exited (the car) the motorcycle takes off,” Grady said.
The motorcyclist then weaved in and out of traffic on Main Street, running red lights, including the one at Watertown Square, Grady said. He rode as fast as 50 mph on a street with a 30 mph speed limit.

The rider continued on North Beacon Street. He passed another cruiser with its lights on, and finally pulled over near the bridge over the Charles River on North Beacon Street, Grady said.
Derick N. Herbert, 24, of 23 Holiday St. in Boston, was arrested on charges of failing to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, marked lanes violation, speeding and four counts of failing to stop or yield, Grady said.
