Newton Pair Arrested for Stealing from Stop & Shop in Watertown

The man and woman tried to take items from the Pleasant Street store.

 

Security at on Pleasant Street spotted a man and a woman trying to shoplift items from the store on Aug. 28 at 6:45 p.m., said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"Security observed a male and female, over the period of 30 minutes, place a number of items into a green Stop & Shop bag and try to leave the store without paying," Lawn said.

The price of the items added up to $133.60, Lawn said. The pair was arrested and police discovered the man had a warrant out in his name.

George W. Haggie, 27, of 13 Dalby St. in Newton, was arrested on charges of shoplifting of over $100 by concealing merchandise and a warrant from Waltham District Court for failing to pay fines.

Danielle Marie Williamson, 26, of 713 Watertown St. in Newtonville, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting of over $100 by concealing merchandise.
