Photo Gallery: First Town-Wide Youth Spelling Bee
See photos from the spelling bee that featured students from the Cunniff, Lowell and Hosmer schools.
Students from around Watertown gathered at Sunday, Feb. 13 for the first Town-Wide Youth Spelling Bee.
The bee featured teams from all three elementary schools in town – and – with teams of three students competing against others of the same level, from grade 2 to 5.
Besides giving the children a chance to show off their spelling prowess, the event also served as a fundraiser for the Watertown Education Foundation. The money will be used by the foundation to support programs and initiatives by teachers not funded through the regular school budget.

Money was raised through sponsorships, donations and a raffle, with the grand prize being an Apple iPad. Bee Organizer Amy Donahue estimated that at least $7,000 would be raised for the WEF through the event.
