Leaders 4SC is a summer workshop for middle school (rising 5th to 10th grade) students on writing and speaking, as well as leadership, communication, decision-making, and advocacy. Our goal is to train the next generation of civic leaders: members of a community who actively participate in society.<a href="https://leaders4sc.org" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">SIGN&nbsp;UP</a>
By the end of each week, students will have<ul><li>Completed at least one writing or speaking assignment arguing for and defending their opinion on any current issues</li><li>Participated in daily discussions and activities on a different major current event every day</li><li>Participated in daily task force activities to role play as key decision makers and stakeholder</li><li>Discussed, debated, and bonded with an incredible group of engaged young people! </li></ul>

Students may attend one, two, or three weeks:
Session 1 &mdash; Writing Focus: July 6-10; 10a-4p
Session 2 &mdash; Speaking Focus: July 13-17; 10a-4p
Session 3 &mdash; Social Innovation Focus: July 20-24; 10a-4p

Researchers at McLean Hospital are investigating factors that make some females better able to cope with stressful experiences and what makes some females more vulnerable to experiencing depression. By participating, you can help them better understand, prevent, and treat adolescent depression. Participants will answer questions about their thoughts and feelings and will also undergo an fMRI brain scan. Parent permission is required for females under 18. We are inviting healthy female teens between the ages of 13-15 to participate in a research study. Teens can earn up to $594 if they qualify and receive a picture of their&nbsp;brain. Researchers at McLean Hospital are investigating how stress may influence mood and brain activity. Teens will answer questions about their thoughts and feelings. Teens will&nbsp;also undergo an fMRI brain scan. Teens will also be asked to fill out very brief surveys on their smartphone and to wear a smartwatch that tracks their heart rate, skin&nbsp;conductance, physical activity (i.e., step count), and sleep patterns.
