Quincy Woman With Wire Cutters Tried to Steal Cellphone from Best Buy

The woman was caught by security after she removed a cellphone from the display stand.

A Quincy woman faces larceny charges after Best Buy security caught her allegedly cutting security chains with a wire cutter and stealing items from display stands.

On July 4 at 3:41 p.m., Watertown Police were called to after a woman was caught trying to cut the wire off an item in the Bose section of the store, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. Security also found an Android phone missing from the cellphone section, worth $999.99.

"Security confronted the woman and discovered the Droid cellphone on her," Lawn said.

Officers also discovered a man with her had an arrest warrant in his name, Lawn said.

Ashley C. Connolly, 27, of 96 West Elm St. in Quincy, was arrested on a charge of larceny of over $250, Lawn said.

Mark Battista, 35, of 107 Wessagussett Road in Weymouth, was arrested on a warrant from Quincy District Court for failing to pay fines.
