Son Of Fallen Watertown Firefighter Gets Surprise Graduation Visit
The Watertown Fire Department turned out for Patrick Toscano's graduation from Blue Hills Regional High School.

WATERTOWN, MA – Blue Hills Regional High School's senior class graduated this week, and while many students probably had their parents, siblings and a few members of their extended family cheering them on, Patrick Toscano's fan section was larger than most. Members of the Watertown Fire Department surprised Patrick, the son of fallen firefighter Joseph Toscano, at the ceremony.
Joseph Toscano, 54, a married father of five and 20-year veteran of the Watertown Fire Department, died in March after collapsing at the scene of a fire. Patrick is one of three sons and two daughters, all between the ages of 12 and 19.
Family and friends described Toscano as a dedicated family man and trustworthy friend, who passed his "warmth, kindness, curiosity for life and love of the outdoors" down to his children.

"Family was at the center of Joe's life and defined him," the Toscano family wrote in March.
Last month, the Heroes Live Forever 5K in Plymouth helped raise money for the Toscano family, and several communities surrounding Watertown and Randolph, where the Toscanos live, have rallied around the family. Hundreds of mourners gathered in March to celebrate the life of a man who was described as a dedicated family man and trustworthy friend.
