Support ROYAL, Watertown's newest restaurant, on Kickstarter and receive meals, private parties, chef-for-a-day experiences and more (act fast: campaign ends 12/22)

Royal, a new restaurant located at 45 Lexington Street, is set to open in Watertown on or around January 1. It will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will feature New American/French cuisine using farm-to-table, local, organic foods. Breakfast will be served “boulangerie” style. Dishes are described as “sexy plates.”

For owners Rachid Korda and Melanie Nye this has been a labor of love. The two have renovated the restaurant completely themselves, and they have loved every minute of it. But they just recently discovered that their kitchen needs $23,000 worth of equipment in order to comply with the Town of Watertown’s health codes.

That’s not stopping them from opening as planned, but in order to help bridge the gap, the two started a unique Kickstarter campaign that ends on December 22. Unlike many Kickstarter campaigns where supporters receive intangible, feel good benefits, Korda and Nye are putting their money where your mouth is, so to speak, and are offering meals, parties, coffee, the chance to be chef for a day, behind the scenes visits, and even jars of their famous EVOO garlic organic herb spread in exchange for support.

With a contribution as low as $10, you will receive a cup of coffee and one of their famous pastries. Examples of other contributions include a three-course dinner for two for a $100 contribution and a three-course dinner for two twice a year plus a party at the restaurant for ten people with a $500 contribution. They make great holiday gifts!
