SWAT Team Responds to Barricaded Subject on Carrol Street

Neighboring residents were evacuated at about 3 p.m., but the situation has been resolved peacefully, according to Watertown Police Lt. James O'Connor.

A SWAT team and a number of area police officers responded to a barricaded subject at 2 Carrol St. at about 3 p.m. Saturday, according to Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor.

Neighboring residents were evacuated during the incident, but the situation was resolved peacefully, O’Connor said at about 6 p.m.

He said the man was arrested and is being charged with multiple counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He said the investigation is ongoing into whether the man had a weapon or firearm on him during the incident.

The man did not have any hostages, and no injuries occurred, O’Connor said.

Watertown Police Chief Edward Deveau wanted to thank area residents for their cooperation. The SWAT team Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC).
