The Church of the Good Shepherd presents music from 16th-century England on period instruments

Queen Elizabeth I’s reign from 1558-1603 saw a time of relative peace, numerous voyages of discovery, triumph over the Spanish Armada, and an outpouring of music, poetry and plays. In this program, we’ll present restorations of works from the Cambridge Consort Books of 1595, dramatic music of the Elizabethan theater, and songs of city life and maritime adventure! Includes instrumental works by Hume, Morley, and Ravenscroft, consort songs of Dowland and Byrd, and choice selections from the English Dancing Master. Join us a for a reception after the concert.
