Two Newton Residents Arrested for String of Car Break ins
The pair of young men had taken items from cars in Newton and the South Side of Watertown, including a badge from a retired police captain.

Watertown Police caught two young men from Newton suspected of breaking into cars in Newton and Watertown.
On June 25 at 10:25 p.m., Watertown Police got a message from Newton Police to be on the look out for two males walking in th area of Watertown Street who may have been breaking into cars, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.
Police stopped the pair on Watertown Street, Grady said.

"The two were in possession of stolen property, including the badge of a retired police captain's badge (from Newton), which showed these gentlemen were breaking into cars in the area," Grady said.
Giovanni Salazar, 17, of 280 California St. Apt. 4 in Newton and a 16-year-old boy from Newton each face two counts of felony nighttime breaking and entering of a vehicle, Grady said.

The two may be linked to other car breakins in the area, Grady said.
Three cars – a 1998 Subaru Forester, a 1998 Volvo and a 2001 Chrysler Sebring – were found with their door open and the clove compartments rummaged through, Grady said. The incidents were reported on June 25 at 9:49 a.m.
On June 26 at 1:15 p.m., Watertown Police received a report of a 2006 Cadillac that han been entered and rummaged through but nothing was taken. The car was parked on Eliot Street, Grady said.
