NCQA, a nonprofit that works to improve the quality of healthcare, bases its rankings on consumer experience, prevention and treatment.
“While it’s satisfying to be acknowledged as the best health plan, our core focus remains on the member and ensuring we provide them with an exceptional experience and care that is high caliber and affordable,” said Paul Kasuba, senior vice president and chief medical officer of Tufts Health Plan.
Tufts has been recognized by organizations for its insurance plans in the past.
The company earned a 4.5 star rating and was ranked in the top five percent of Medicare plans nationally by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2014. The company was also ranked for highest member satisfaction among commercial health plans in New England by J.D. Power.
“It’s a shared accomplishment for our entire community of members, employees, providers, employers and brokers,” said said James Roosevelt Jr., chief executive officer of Tufts Health Plan.
