A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by William Shakespeare, adapted by Deidre Purcell for Watertown Children’s Theatre on February 6 at 7 pm, February 7 at 1 pm and 7 pm, February 8 at 1 pm. Black Box Theater, Arsenal Center for the Arts, Watertown. A Watertown Children’s Theatre Black Box Series production. Tickets are $12 each, general admission, and sales begin on January 13, 2015 at 10 am.
Director Cassandra Lovering says of this production, “In our version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, love can be an illusion which can make you feel invincible or send you into madness-- a division that can seem arbitrary from the outside. Working on this play with adolescents is especially resonant; it’s a time when you begin to feel the vast spectrum of emotions that come with falling for your first love. Having been able to delve into the depths of what it feels like to be in love with these generous actors has been such a joy.”
