The button on top of the can had broken and she put it into her kitchen sink, which is next to the stove. The fire started when she turned on the faucet. The stove was off, but the pilot light was on, so fire crews believe the fumes from the can were pushed toward the stove and caught fire. The flames also damaged cabinets above the sink and partially melted a bottle of liquid soap on the sink.

Aug. 14, 8:21 p.m.: A stove caught fire at a home on Charles River Road. Fire crews found that a cutting board in the broiler had caught fire. The flames were doused with a fire extinguisher, and they ventilated the apartment.
