Watertown Fire Log: July 18 to July 24
Woman struck by car, a man has a heart attack in a cab and two mulch fires.

Incidents
July 18, 12:09 a.m.: Firefighters put out the flames before they caused extensive damage. The cause was unclear.
July 18, 7:29 a.m.: A dishwasher caught fire in a home on Arlington Street. When fire crews arrived the fire had gone out. The electrical circuit to the dishwasher was turned off and the owner was told to contact an electrician.

July 19, 12:07 p.m.: A woman was struck by a car while walking on Cross Street at Main Street. She told emergency crews that her right forearm hurt, as well as her right small toe. She has minor abrasions on both, and she was taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital for treatment.
July 19, 8:55 p.m.: A resident on Philip Darch Road said a neighbor was using a grill on a wooden picnic table, and used lighter fluid to start it. When firefighters arrived there were no flames, but they told the people that it was not safe to use the grill on a wooden table.

July 19, 9:45 p.m.: Police asked the Fire Department to come to Robert Ford Road to evaluate the victim of an assault. The woman had a swollen lip and cut on her gum line as well as scratches on her neck. She did not want to be taken to hospital.
July 19, 11:20 p.m.: An odor of smoke was reported on Boylston Street near Mt. Auburn Street. Firefighters found a fire in a pit behind a house with no one around. The flames were put out and residents were told that outside burning was prohibited in town.
July 20, 4:53 p.m.: A man dislocated his shoulder at the Dealtry Pool. The shoulder popped back in before fire crews arrived, and the man refused further treatment.
July 21, 1:55 a.m.: A wooden fence and some mulch outside the Watertown Savings Bank branch on Bigelow Avenue caught fire. Firefighters put out the fire and wet down the area. A passerby who discovered the fire complained of discomfort in his chest and he was taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital.
July 21, 4:08 p.m.: Mulch along Arsenal Street near Best Buy caught fire. When firefighters arrived members of mall security were trying to put out the fire with a garden hose. Fire crews put out the fire and wet down the area.
July 21, 4:08 p.m.: A broken branch fell on power lines at the Mt. Auburn Athletic Club and the tree began to smolder. NStar was called, and firefighters had to wait until the power was turned off before they could soak down the tree and the area.
July 21, 5:39 p.m.: A tree fell outside a home on School Street and fell on some wires. Fire crews cut and removed the low-voltage wires, and tied them to a pole on Belmont Street.
July 23, 1:19 p.m.: Fire crews went to Riverside Street because someone was locked out of their apartment and the resident said there was food on the stove. A firefighter opened a third-floor window, entered the apartment and removed the burned food from the stove. Crews ventilated the apartment to remove the smoke.
July 24, 10:20 a.m.: Dispatchers received a call about a man having a heart attack in a taxi cab on Forest Street. Fire crews went to the area but did not see a cab. The dispatcher called back and found the right address, on Rose Avenue. They found the man, who was in cardiac arrest. He was taken to hospital.
