Watertown Fire Log: July 25 to July 31

Man locks child in car and himself out of his home and a man and woman both fall down their outside steps.

Incidents

July 25, 11:58 p.m.: A Laurel Street resident cut two of his fingers when he had an accident with a knife. Firefighters washed and re-bandaged the fingers before taking him to Mount Auburn Hospital.

July 27, 6:02 p.m.: Fire crews went to Highland Avenue when an arcing wire was reported. They found a tree branch hanging from a telephone wire and removed the branch.

July 28, 12:23 a.m.: A Palfrey Street resident hurt her right eye when she was putting in her contact lens. She was taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital for treatment.

July 28, 8:58 a.m.: A man accidentally locked his young child in his car on Winter Street, and also locked himself out of his home. He hurt his hand while trying to get into the house. Fire crews got into the building and got an extra set of keys so the child could be let out.

July 28, 2:27 p.m.: An 18-wheeler truck ripped cable wires off a home on Hilltop Road.

July 28, 6:23 p.m. and 6:41 p.m.: Fire crews went to a home on Francis Street because a resident was burning wood in the back yard. He was told to put the fire out because outside burning is prohibited. Twenty minutes later, fire crews were called back to the same house because wood was being burned in the back yard. This time police were also called. They told him again about the outside burning ordinance, and this time he put the fire out.

July 30, 3:22 p.m. and 3:47 p.m.: Fire crews were called to Francis Street when a outside fire was reported. The resident said he was using it to cook and used a garden hose to put out the fire. Crews went back 25 minutes later and they found a smoldering wood fire in the back yard. Fire crews put the fire out.

July 30, 7:26 p.m.: A man and a woman fell down the outside steps of their home on Belmont Street. The woman cut her head and both were immobilized before they were taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital.
