Watertown Fire Log: June 20 to June 27

Dumpster fire, woman has heart attack and hookah pipe sets off CO alarm.

Incidents

June 20, 11:02 p.m.: A driver collided with a parked construction vehicle on Irma Avenue. He complained of left arm pain and some back pain. He was immobilized by fire crews and taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital.

June 21, 2:11 a.m.: Fire crews responded to a woman having a heart attack. They gave her CPR and used the defibrillator. They continued CPR and took her to Mt. Auburn Hospital.

June 21, 4:10 a.m.: A dumpster fire was reported on Arsenal Street, and crews found the fire still smoldering. Firefighters extinguished the fire.

June 21, 6:08 p.m.: A child fell off a fence he was climbing and injured his left hand and wrist. Firefighters put a splint on the arm and took him to Mt. Auburn Hospital.

June 22, 4:07 p.m.: Firefighters went to Quirk Street to deal with a telephone pole on fire. NStar came and turned off the power and the fire was extinguished.

June 22, 8:39 p.m.: A large tree limb fell onto power lines on Warren Street. The area was cordoned off and NStar crews removed the trees.

June 25, 4:56 p.m.: Firefighters went to Merrifield Avenue after a carbon monoxide detector went off. Firefighters shut off the gas furnace and the gas heater, but the source of the CO was still not apparent. A resident said he was smoking a hookah pipe in the basement using charcoal tablets to light the tobacco. The residents were warned about the dangers of burning charcoal inside.
