Watertown Fire Log: May 31 to June 6

A man hits a parked semi, a cyclist injures himself, and a girl is bitten by a dog.

Incidents

May 31, 5:33 p.m.: Firefighters went to the scene of a three-car accident on Maplewood Street at Winsor Avenue. The occupants of two cars said they had no injury, but one driver was placed on a board and a collar was put on her neck by firefighters and she was taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital.

May 31, 8:20 p.m.: Fire crews went to Partridge Street after hearing reports of an outdoor fire. They found the fire was in a metal-clad device designed for fires, but the people who lit the fire did not have a burning permit. They were told to put out the fire.

June 2, 5:14 p.m.: A wire fell on Riverside Street. Fire crews found a coaxial cable on the ground, and coiled it up and hung it with caution tape.

June 3, 12:24 a.m.: Residents of a home on Putnam Street reported that smoke was filling their basement. Firefighters discovered the smoke came from a delayed ignition of a oil burner. The burner was shut down and the basement was ventilated until carbon monoxide levels were safe.

June 3, 10:14 p.m.: A car struck a parked semi-truck on Main Street at Prescott Street. The airbags in the BMW deployed, and gave the driver cuts and burns on his face, and caused a nose bleed. The driver refused to be taken to hospital, despite recommendation from the firefighters to do so. Fluids leaked from the car fire crews used speedy dry to soak up the fluids and removed the battery.

June 4, 4:02 p.m.: A cyclist got into an accident on Arsenal Street at Greenough Boulevard and flew over his handlebars. He had a cut over his lip and some broken teeth. Paramedics immobilized him and took him to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

June 4, 4:34 p.m.: A dog bit a girl on Standish Road. She suffered a slight laceration on her behind. The girl’s parents said they would take her to the emergency room.
