Watertown Fire Log: Oct. 10 to Oct. 16
Smoke scare linked to wood stove, carbon monoxide detector set off and a boy who was injured was taken to hospital.

Oct. 10, 12:29 p.m.: Two cars collided on Summer Street near Forest Street, and one of the cars rolled on its roof. The driver of the car that rolled over said she had back paid and was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital. The driver of the other car injured her thumb, but did not want to go to hospital.
Oct. 12, 12 p.m.: An odor of smoke was detected at a home on Dexter Avenue. Firefighters determined the smoke was coming from a wood-burning stove in the garage, where a resident was burning brush. The resident was asked to stop the burning, and fire officials discovered that the stove was surrounded by combustible materials.
Oct. 12, 1:02 p.m.: A smoke detector went off in the Watertown Elderly Housing on Warren Street. The electrical burning smell came from an overheated motor on a heater inside the wall. Maintenance crews came and replaced the motor.

Oct. 13, 12:55 p.m.: An SUV struck a guardrail on Grove Street at Greenough Boulevard and the driver was bleeding from his nose. He did not wear a seat belt and the airbag did not deploy. A Belmont ambulance took the man to Mount Auburn Hospital.
Oct. 14, 11:59 p.m.: A woman complained of neck and back pain after her car was struck from behind on Mt. Auburn Street. She was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital.

Oct. 14, 10:56 p.m.: A carbon monoxide detector went off at an apartment building on Mt. Auburn Street. Fire crews got a reading in one of the apartments, and found a stove in poor condition. Fire officials told the resident that the stove was a problem.
Oct. 16, 3:15 p.m.: A boy was injured on Irving Street and firefighters provided some medical treatment. He was taken by ambulance to the Newton Wellesley Hospital's emergency room with his mother.
