Watertown Fire Log: Oct. 17 to Oct. 23

Boy hurt when falls off dad's shoulders, High School holds a fire drill without telling the Fire Department and a man hits a telephone pole.

Oct. 17, 5:02 p.m.: A mother on Grandview Avenue called the ambulance after her son had an allergic reaction to peanut butter. He began to get a rash around his mouth, and appeared to be having trouble breathing. He was taken to Children’s Hospital with his mother.

Oct. 18, 5:41 p.m.: A man hit his head on a street sign on Pleasant Street and cut his head. Fire crews bandaged his head and he was taken to Mount Auburn Hosptial.

Oct. 19, 9:08 a.m.: A carbon monixide detector went off at a business on Orchard Street. One worker complained of having a head ache and another had elevated CO levels. Both were taken to Mount Auburn Hospital.

Oct. 19, 9:34 p.m.: A boy fell of his father’s shoulders while playing and he was unresponsive. Fire crews took him to Newton Wellesley Hospital.

Oct. 20, 9:36 a.m.: A fire drill was conducted at Watertown High School, but school officials did not tell the Fire Department they were going to do so. Fire officials informed school officials that the proper procedures had not been followed, and told them the correct way to do a fire drill.

Oct. 20, 6:10 p.m.: A bicyclist struck a vehicle on the right fender and front windshield. The rider complained of right leg pain, and was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Oct. 23, 5:27 p.m.: A man struck a utility pole with his car on Church Street and wound up near Marion Road. After examining the driver, firefighters found the man had low blood sugar. He was taken Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
