Police located Akisik at his workplace and asked him if he had hit, strangled or threatened to throw his wife in the river. He denied doing any of those things.

Akisik told police his wife physically attacked him, and added that she needed to meet with a psychiatrist, the police report said.

The wife first approached two police officers as they were parked in the lot of the Dunkin' Donuts on Main Street, and told them she wanted to speak with a female officer.

When asked if she was OK, she told the officers that her husband abuses her. Officers asked why she had not come forward earlier and she said she was afraid for her safety and that of her mother. She explained that Akisik is his mother’s Green Card sponsor, and she worried about her mother's future.

Akisik was arraigned in Waltham District Court on June 9, and released on $3,000 bail.
