Watertown Police Arrest a Man on Charges of Assault and Arson
The Rochester man allegedly attacked his girlfriend and lit items on fire on the stove.

Watertown Police arrested a Rochester, Mass., man on a slew of charges after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend, trashed her home and lit items on fire on her stove.
When police officers went to a Melendy Avenue home after a neighbor reported hearing a woman screaming, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. They found a man, identified as Jonathan P. Deprospo, sitting on a couch in the living room.
"The living room was completely destroyed," Lawn said. "[Deprospo] had blood on his clothing and his hands. A glass coffee table was smashed, a TV was smashed and an Apple computer and other items were damaged."

Deprospo's girlfriend told police that he grabbed her by the arm and threw her to the ground and kicked her to stop her from calling police, Lawn said.
When police tried to hand cuff Deprospo, he fought against them, Lawn said. Then they smelled something burning and Deprospo said, "Wait until you see this," according to Lawn.

Officers found items burning on the stove, Lawn said.
Deprospo, 25, of 17 Wordell St. in Rochester, Mass., was arrested on charges of malicious destruction of property worth more than $250, intimidating a witness, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, attempted arson on a house and resisting arrest.
