Watertown Police Hope the Murderer of a Former Officer is Brought to Justice Swiftly
Gail Miles, the department's first black officer, was found dead in her Roxbury apartment and Boston Police ruled her death a homicide.

The Watertown Police Department released the following statement:
The men and women of the Watertown Police Department are deeply saddened by . Officer Miles served with
the police department for 20 years, from 1984 to her retirement in 2004. Officer Miles worked her entire career assigned to the night patrol division. We hope that whoever is responsible for the death of Officer Miles is identified and brought to justice soon. We offer our deepest sympathies to the Miles family during this difficult time.
