Watertown Police Log: Aug. 8 to Aug. 14

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. [This list was amended Aug. 24, 2011.]
Arrests
Aug. 8, 12:08 p.m.: A man put items inside a plastic bin at Target and only paid for the bin, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. Store security caught the man with $405.75 worth of merchandise, including a Braun razor and two Magic Jacks. Asadi Hossein, 24, of 25 Cushing St. Apt. 3 in Waltham, was arrested on a charge of larceny of items worth more than $250.

Aug. 9, 1:25 p.m.: Police arrested a Waltham man on a warrant for fraudulent use of a credit card, Grady said. Bruce Owen Demelo, 36, of 39 Clinton St. in Waltham, was arrested on a warrant out of Waltham District Court.
Aug. 9, 5:53 p.m.: A man was pulled over on his moped for making an illegal left turn at the intersection of Nonantum Road and Galen Street, Grady said. He had an arrest warrant in his name and did not have license. Adao R. DaSilva, 32, of 135 Washington St. Apt. 6 in Brighton, was arrested on charges of unlicensed operation of a moped, making an illegal turn and a warrant from Milford District Court for unlicensed driving and leaving the scene of property damage.

Aug. 11, 3:22 p.m.: A man was spotted trying to leave Target without paying for $339.02 worth of girl’s clothing, Grady said. He also has an arrest warrant in his name. Andre L. Thomas, 51, of 566 Massachusetts Ave. in Boston, was arrested for shoplifting of items worth more than $100 and a warrant.
Aug. 13, 6:01 p.m.: Police went to Elm Street on a report of a domestic disturbance. Polina Ortega, 41, of 75 Elm St. in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery on child with injury, Grady said.
Aug. 14, 6:12 p.m.: A man came to the Police Station because his car had been towed, and when officers ran his file, they found an arrest warrant in his name, Grady said. Joao J. DeOliveira, 37, of 81 Empire St. in Allston, was arrested on a warrant out of Charlestown District Court for unpaid court fees.
Incidents
Aug. 8, 10:27 a.m.: The owner of a two-family house on California Street told police she suspects some former tenants stole jewelry worth a total of $4,300 from her while she was in Florida, Grady said. The woman had been away from December to March, but just reported the theft to police.
Aug. 10, 10:48 p.m.: A woman reported her wallet missing, and told police she thought she left it at Target, Grady said. Later that day, a man who found the wallet contacted the woman and returned it. Nothing was missing from the wallet.
Aug. 11, 1:03 a.m.: A delivery man for Domino’s Pizza told police someone stole the plastic, illuminated Domino’s sign from the top of his car earlier that night when it was parked at Domino’s on Arsenal Street, Grady said. It is reportedly worth $100.
Aug. 11, 12:08 p.m.: A former employee of Boston Biomedical was spotted inside the company’s offices on Grove Street, Grady said. It does not appear that the man, who had been fired, took anything, but people saw him sitting at a computer. He was spotted by two scientists who knew he had been terminated and they had him escorted him out of the building.
Aug. 11, 6:53 p.m.: A woman reported that an ex-boyfriend broke into her house, Grady said. He reportedly only took items that belonged to him, including clothing.
Aug. 12, 1:46 p.m.: A boy was shooting baskets at Casey Memorial Park on Watertown Street and put his bag on the bench. When he was finished, he discovered his iPhone had been taken out of the bag, Grady said.
Aug. 12, 2:55 p.m.: The owner of a 2000 Honda Civic parked in the garage at the Arsenal Mall and when she returned she found the door slightly ajar and a brown paper bag with her lunch inside was missing, Grady said.
Aug. 13, 7 p.m.: A resident of the Riverbank Lofts on Pleasant Street reported that someone had taken the license plate off his motorcycle, Grady said. One resident reported seeing a man in his 20s looking at the motorcycle, but did not actually see him take it.
Aug. 13, 9:36 p.m.: A resident of the Repton Place apartments on Repton Circle found that someone had carved the word “slut” in her front door, Grady said. The resident said she did not know who might have done it. She told police she has had a steady boyfriend for a couple years and they have not had any problems. Also, she does not have any ex-boyfriends with whom she is on bad terms.
