Watertown Police Log: June 6 to June 12

Woman discovers her license was stolen when another woman tries to get medication with her ID and woman's window broken by can of peas.

Arrests

June 6, 5:46 p.m.: Target officials called police after security stopped a shoplifter, said Police Lt. Michael Lawn. Store security spotted a woman place several items into a carriage – worth $145.96 – and try to leave without paying. Kelly A. Madden, 29, of 85 Trapelo Road Apt. 42 in Waltham, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting merchandise worth more than $100.

June 7, 9:42 p.m.: Police were called to Main Street for a report of a man violating a restraining order, Lawn said. Robert Louis Langione Jr., 35, of 66 Edenfield Road in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of violation of an abuse order.

June 10, 7:35 p.m.: An officer on patrol spotted a green Nissan run a red light and pulled the driver over, Lawn said. The driver was found to have an arrest warrant in his name and also that he had no license. Wilson P. Leite, 25, of 410 Western Ave. in Brighton, was arrested on charges of unlicensed driving, a red light violation and a warrant from Dudley District Court for motor vehicle offenses.

June 11, 5 p.m.: Police responded to a fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend on Mt. Auburn Street, Lawn said. Police discovered the boyfriend had three arrest warrants in his name. John R. High, 69, of 805 Mt. Auburn St. Apt. 805 in Watertown, was arrested on three warrants – one for a traffic violation, one for failing to appear in court and one of larceny of items worth more than $100.

June 12, 9:52 p.m.: Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Beechwood Avenue and they discovered the driver had hit a parked car, Lawn said. When they talked to the driver, officers smelled alcohol on her breath. Deanna P. Carlson, 41, of 32 Bacon St. in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Incidents

June 7, 7:55 a.m.: Construction workers at a site at 500 Arsenal St. found 48 six-foot reinforcement bars were stolen overnight, Lawn said. They are worth approximately $700.

June 7, 3:25 p.m.: Three men were seen trying to walk out of the contractors entrance of Home Depot three air conditioners and an air gun, Lawn said. When store security approached, there was an altercation, and the men ran away without the items and drove away in a black sport utility vehicle.

June 7, 5:37 p.m.: A woman who works at Mt. Auburn Hospital found out that someone had taken her license out of the mail when she was alerted that another woman was trying to get prescription drugs at the hospital using her license, Lawn said. Cambridge Police arrested the woman caught trying to obtain the medicine on charges of identity fraud and possession of RMV documents.

June 8, 5:51 p.m.: The driver of a 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit who parked on Talcott Avenue, near the Commander’s Mansion, discovered someone broke the rear passenger side window of her car and took a gym bag containing clothing, Lawn said.

June 9, 7:03 a.m.: The owner of a 2000 Mercedes reported that someone scratched the driver and passenger side windows of the car, Lawn said.

June 9, 3:30 a.m.: A Waltham Street resident was sleeping when she awoke to a crashing sound, Lawn said. She found that someone had thrown a can of peas through her bedroom window.

June 9, 3:39 p.m.: A nine year olds bicycle was stolen from the yard of a Robert Ford Road home, Lawn said. The Orange BMX-style bike was last seen on June 6.

June 9, 11:58 p.m.: The owner of a 1997 Toyota 4Runner heard an alarm going off and when he came out to look he saw a car speeding away, Lawn said. The door of the 4Runner was open and the console was lifted up, but nothing was missing.

June 10, 5:51 p.m.: The owner of the Comic Stop on Main Street saw a 13 year old boy take a pack of Magic playing cards worth $24.99, Lawn said. The boy gave the cards back and was told to leave the store by police.

June 10, 4 p.m.: The window of an Oldsmobile parked on Cypress Street was shattered and clothing, an iPod a GPS device and $20 in cash were missing, Lawn said.

June 10, 8:32 p.m.: A mountain bike was taken from an open garage on Fairview Avenue, Lawn said. The bike was a 28-inch blue Gary Fisher bicycle worth $900. Two bike locks were taken, too.

June 12, 4:09 p.m.: A woman bought a camera and accessories at Best Buy, and then parked her 1994 Honda Accord at the Arsenal Mall, Lawn said. She went into the mall for 15 minutes and found that someone had broken in and took the camera and accessories. There are no signs of force entry.
