Watertown Police Log: March 12 to March 18

Woman arrested on drug charge, man arrested on OUI charge after striking parked car and man attempted to steal a car but left the car running in a parking lot.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests

March 12, 6:43 p.m.: Two women were caught by Target security allegedly taking clothing and putting them into their purses, said Police Lt. Michael Lawn. One of the women took a purse from Target and filled it with clothing. Ashley I. Carrasquillo, 18, of 85 Faneuil St. Apt. 245 in Brighton, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise. Stacey Ivette Santiago, 19, of 120 George St. Apt. 1 in Roxbury, was arrested on a charge of larceny of items worth more than $250.

March 15, 12:43 a.m.: A Public Works worker spotted a woman running toward St. Patrick’s Church on Main Street with a man following her, Lawn said. They were then seen walking on Chestnut Street checking doors on the side of the church and they found an unlocked door. Police checked inside and did not see anything missing or disturbed. Police discovered the woman had an arrest warrant in her name and had a glass pipe with Percocet residue inside. Katrina M. Lotti, 22, of 232 Kelton St. in Allston, war arrested on a charge of possession of a Class E substance and a warrant from Dorchester District Court for open and gross lewdness and trespassing.

March 18, 2:42 a.m.: Police found a car with its lights on and engine running in a parking lot on Pleasant Street and the driver was slumped over the steering wheel, Lawn said. Police tried to wake up the driver, but could not so they opened to door to wake him. An odor of alcohol was detected on his breath, and field sobriety tests were given. Adam H. Skelskie, 27, of 8 Berkeley St. in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

March. 18, 8:18 p.m.: Police were called to Warren Street for an accident and found a Lexus in the middle of the road with front-end damage, Lawn said. It appeared the car had struck a parked car. The officer detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and conducted field sobriety tests. Stephan Minasyan, 46, of 20 Barnes St. in Waltham, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, not having his license in possession and reckless driving.


Incidents

March 12, 1:06 a.m.: A taxi driver reported that he picked up a man in Harvard Square who asked to be taken to Watertown, but he did not have the cash for the fare, Lawn said. The man, described as a Brazilian man in his 20s, asked to stop at 7-Eleven to use the cash machine, but then left the area.

March 14, 8:25 a.m.: A Barnard Avenue resident discovered his window had been broken and said he found a pellet in his house, Lawn said. The man said he had seen the kid across the street shooting a pellet gun. Police asked the boy and he said he likely hit the window. He agreed to pay for the man’s window.

March 14, 4:49 p.m.: The wonder of Watertown Gas & Service on Watertown Street reported that someone shot a pellet through a window of his business.
March 14, 5:54 p.m.: A woman asked an attendant at East Coast Gas on Arsenal Street to allow her to pump $20 worth of gas and began to pump, but then said that the attendant had not allowed her to pump the gas, Lawn said. The woman, described as a black female in a Toyota Camry, left the station.

March 14, 8:54 p.m.: The owner of a 2008 Toyota that was parked on Cuba Street overnight was broken into and a GPS device, an iPod charger and change was taken, Lawn said. There were not signs of forced entry.

March 15, 9:13 a.m.: A Chauncey Street resident said she was missing some jewelry and suspected workers who came to do work on her house had taken the items, Lawn said. She is missing three bracelets and two necklaces, worth a total of $1,300.

March 15, 11:45 a.m.: The owner of a 2002 Grand Marquis found his car running in the parking lot of his apartment complex on Pleasant Street and the driver door was wedged a pole, Lawn said. A 4:30 a.m., a neighbor reported seeing an unidentified man get out of the car and run away. The owner said he kept a spare key in the car.

March 15, 12:08 p.m.: A car that had been towed to Perfection Auto Body on Pleasant Street was taken off the lot without towing fees being paid, Lawn said. An employee said he saw a BMW pull up and drop off a man who then got into the car that had been towed and drove away.

March 17, 6:57 a.m.: The rear driver-side window of a 2000 Ford Expedition was smashed, the owner told police, Lawn said.

March 17, 10:45 a.m.: The rear window of a 2004 Chevy, parked on Pequosette Street, was shattered, Lawn said.

March 17, 2:19 p.m.: A man who had been injured while working on a car on Nash Street came back and found a computer used to diagnose car problems was taken from his van, Lawn said. The Model Scanner is worth $12,000.

March 17, 9:15 p.m.: A Mt. Auburn Street resident found that someone had broken into her bedroom, which had been locked with a padlock, and took some prescription medicine, Lawn said.

March 18, 8:57 a.m.: A landscaping trailer was taken from Grove Street, where it had been stored since December, Lawn said. The trailer is worth $6,500.

March 18, 12:05 p.m.: A 2006 Audi parked at the Mt. Auburn Athletic Club was broken into and a pocketbook was stolen, Lawn said. The pocketbook contained cash, credit cards, a checkbook and a driver’s license.

March 14, 7:02 a.m.: A 2011 BMW was parked overnight behind the St. John’s Methodist Church and at appeared someone used a crowbar to try to pry open the door, Lawn said. Damage was done to the door and window, but no entry was gained.
