Watertown Police Log: May 14 to May 20

Man arrested after assaulting pregnant woman, bras missing from Victoria's Secret and driver arrested for erratic driving.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests

May 14, 12:55 a.m.: Watertown Police received an alert from Cambridge Police to be on the look out for a man who had been involved in a domestic assault and battery on a pregnant woman at Mount Auburn Hospital, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. Officers found a man fitting the description walking on Mt. Auburn Street and arrested him and turned him over to Cambridge Police. Angel A. DeJesus, 23, of 205 Middlesex St. in Lowell, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery on a pregnant person.

May 15, 10:34 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Mt. Auburn Street spotted a car run a red light, Lawn said. When the officer pulled over the driver he discovered the driver had a suspended license. Jeffrey A. Shaw, 44, of 241 Lexington St. Apt. 11-1A in Woburn, was arrested on a charge of unlicensed driving and failure to stop.

May 17, 12:20 a.m.: Benjamin Isaac Keller, 35, of 26 Clarendon St. Apt 1 in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery, Lawn said. [This item was changed on June 19, 2012.]

May 18, 1:51 p.m.: A detective on Mt. Auburn Street spotted a 2004 Pontiac speed out of the parking lot of Starbucks, drive about 45 miles per hour on Mt. Auburn Street and turned onto Marshall Street in an erratic manner, Lawn said. The car was stopped on Marshall Street and the driver refused to produce identification and began to yell and scream at the detective, which brought neighbors out of their homes to see what was happening, Lawn said. Christopher P. Cook, 21, of 28 Capitol St. in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of refusing to produce a driver’s license, failing to take care when turning, no inspection sticker, failing to notify the RMV of an address change, improper operation of a motor vehicle, disturbing the peace and speeding.

May 18, 6:01 p.m.: Police were called to Pierce Road for a domestic disturbance, Lawn said. John P. McCabe, 38, of 33 Pierce Road in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

 

Incidents

May 14, 6:46 p.m.: After doing a store inventory, the manager of in the Arsenal Mall discovered that someone took 13 bras, worth $630.50, Lawn said.

May 15, 8:54 p.m.: security spotted a man put a pair of sandals and a shirt into a bag and attempt to leave the store, Lawn said. The items were worth $34.95. A 19-year-old Brookline resident will be summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of shoplifting.

May 16, 8:48 a.m.: Workers at on Watertown Street discovered someone went into a safe and took three iPods and an iPad, and $70 in petty cash from a second safe, Lawn said. Both were locked and there were no signs of forced entry.

May 16, 12:58 p.m.: Police were called to Murphy’s Plumbing where workers reported that $1,750 in plumbing materials and supplies were taken over the weekend from a garage on Nichols Avenue, Lawn said.

May 19, 6:02 p.m.: A birdbath was knocked over at a home on Edenfield Avenue, Lawn said.

May 19, 6:18 p.m.: A Bradford Road resident reported that someone reached into the open window of his Nissan and broke the turn signal from the steering wheel, Lawn said.

May 20, 11:54 a.m.: An Edgecliff Road resident reported that someone stole a hand dolly and a folding shopping cart off her lawn, Lawn said. They were worth $80.
