Watertown Police Log: May 30 to June 5

Arrests

May 30, 2:02 a.m.: Police were called to Mt. Auburn Street in East Watertown on a report of a road rage incident in which a knife was pulled, said Police Lt. Michael Lawn. They did not find anyone when they arrived, but spotted an SUV making a high-speed turn onto Mt. Auburn Street and then onto Norseman Avenue. Officers talked to the driver and asked him why he was speeding. The man said he had a knife pulled on him at the 7-Eleven. Officers noticed the odor of alcohol on his breath, so they did a field sobriety test and arrested him. Amhad M. Haddad, 49, of 23 Norseman Ave. in Watertown, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol – a third offense, and speeding.

June 3, 11:13 a.m.: An Evans Street resident reported that someone stole a TV and high-definition computer on May 30. Police got a warrant for a man who had been at the Evans Street home before, Lawn said. They learned that the TV and computer were sold to a pawnshop in Boston, and they were able to retrieve the TV. Police arrested Lenny Jose Quintero-Flores, 22, of 26 Waverly Street Apt. 110 in Brighton, on a warrant for receiving stolen property.

June 5, 11:27 a.m.: Police went to Howard Street on a report of a domestic disturbance. Michael J. Otero, 51, of 38 Howard Street, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery, Lawn said.

June 5, 5:47 p.m.: An officer on patrol spotted a car run a red light and when he pulled the car over, the officer noticed the passenger did not have her seatbelt on, Lawn said. When he did a check, he found that the woman had an arrest warrant in her name for distribution of a Class D drug – marijuana – from Boston District Court. Lylah N. Silva, a homeless woman from Boston, was arrested on the warrant charge and a failing to use a seatbelt.

June 5, 7:31 p.m.: Target security called police after they detained a woman for shoplifting, Lawn said. Store security spotted a woman taking clothing and grocery items worth $104, and put them in her bag and then tried to leave without paying. Ianka D. Alejandro, 34, of 29 Dartmouth St. Apt. A in Waltham, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealment of merchandise worth more than $104.

Incidents

May 30, 10:05 a.m.: The owner of a 2003 Toyota Celica parked overnight on Summer Street found that the side mirror was bent, the car was scratched and a fin on the hood of the car was broken off, Lawn said.

June 2, 1:13 p.m.: A mountain bike was stolen from a home on Dwight Street, Lawn said. The owner parked the grey Univega bike outside near the back of the house on May 28, and when he returned on June 2 it was gone.

 June 3, 12:48 p.m.: A Waltham Street resident found that someone broke into her house and stole cash, a wrist watch, four DVDs, and iPod and Blackberry phone, Lawn said. The woman believes the suspect might be a former roommate.

June 3, 6:57 p.m.: An Ashland Street resident got a call from the Watertown Free Library that a laptop checked on one of her family’s library cards and was not returned, Lawn said. She told police that no one in her family had checked out a computer, and she suspects that her two sons’ library cards were stolen.

June 4, 8:34 p.m.: A Cypress Street resident parked his 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle outside his home, and locked the steering column. When he came out the next morning the motorcycle was gone, Lawn said.

June 4, 11:47 a.m.: The owner of a 2000 Acura Integra came out to find that someone had tampered with the car’s steering column, removed the cover and exposed ignition wires, Lawn said. The car had been left unlocked.

June 4, 2:26 p.m.: A woman noticed that her wallet was missing from her handbag, and she suspects it was taken while she was shopping at Russo’s on Pleasant Street, Lawn said. The wallet contained cash, credit cards and her ID.

June 4, 8:05 p.m.: A Melendy Avenue resident found that her Dell laptop computer was missing and told police that she suspects an ex-boyfriend had taken it, Lawn said.
