Watertown Police Log: Sept. 5 to Sept. 11

Two women arrested for breaking into a home, a man tried to shoplift at Home Depot and a man tried to cash a fraudulent check at Watertown Savings Bank.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests

Sept. 6, 12:22 a.m.: Police went to Quirk Street after a report of a robbery in progress, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. They found a woman inside and she told them the house belongs to her grandfather. Officers found another woman and noticed a TV had been tipped over, and was sitting in a puddle of water. They also found that the pair had come through a window. Police arrested Lynne M. Sanderson, 25, of 6 Perry St. in Watertown, and Jennifer Mastrangelo, 23, of 42 Hopedale St. in Allston, and each face a charge of breaking and entering into a dwelling at night.

Sept. 6, 9:43 p.m.: Police were called to Main Street for a man violating a restraining order, Lawn said. Mario Melo Jr., 28, of 88 Hampshire St. First Floor in Cambridge, was arrested on a charge of violating a restraining order.

Sept. 7, 9:59 a.m.: Police wee called to Longfellow Road on report of a domestic assault, Lawn said. Edward T. Manning, 67, of 31 Longfellow Road in Watertown, was arrested on charges of threatening to commit a crime and witness intimidation. A restraining order was placed on Manning, and later that day at 2:34 p.m., he returned to the place he was originally arrested, Lawn said. He was arrested a second time on a charge of violation of an abuse prevention order.

Sept. 8, 12:32 a.m.: An officer spotted vehicle which only had its parking lights on, Lawn said. The driver was pulled over and an odor of alcohol was detected on the man’s breath. Field sobriety tests were performed. Michael Harold Rooney, 55, of 403 Riverside St. Apt. 1 in Waltham, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol – a second offense, and vehicle lights violation.

Sept. 8, 4:58 p.m.: Security at Home Depot spotted a man bring a cart full of items, leave it by the check out area, and then leave the store. He returned shortly after, Lawn said, looked around and tried to leave the store with the cart full of $856 worth of merchandise. He also had a warrant in his name. Kerry P. Rollins, 41, of 77 6th Ave. Apt. 3 in Woonsocket, R.I., was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250 and a warrant from Dedham District Court for an OUI charge and driving with a revoked license.

Sept. 8, 7:27 p.m.: Beth Israel Hospital contacted Watertown Police when they discovered a man had a warrant out for his arrest, Lawn said. Carlos Javier Reyes, 38, of 130 Aukland St. Apt. 411 in Dorchester, was arrested on two warrants out of Waltham District Court.

Sept. 8, 8:05 p.m.: A 2002 Honda Odyssey was spotted running a stop sign and the driver was pulled over, Lawn said. Luciene R. Moreira, 31, of 144 Faneuil St. Apt. A in Allston, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license and failing to stop.

Sept. 9, 7:24 p.m.: Two people were arrested after a domestic dispute on Waltham Street, Lawn said. Mark D. Polin, 48, of 43 Waltham St. in Watertown, and Jake Milo Tommy, 19, of 26 Agassiz St. Apt. 1 in Belmont, were each arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

Sept. 11, 7:30 p.m.: Police went to Coolidge Hill Road to deal with a domestic disturbance, Lawn said. Masood Omari, 34, of 41 Coolidge Hill Road Apt. 1 in Watertown, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon – a shoe.

 

Incidents

Sept. 6, 7:38 a.m.: The rear window of a 1997 Toyota Corolla parked on Irving Street was shattered, Lawn said. The cause is unknown and nothing was taken from the car.

Sept. 7, 4:06 a.m.: A motorcycle was reported stolen from Hazel Street, Lawn said.. The owner heard an early warning alert from his Lo-Jack system, and when he went out to look at his Yamaha motorcycle, it was gone.

Sept. 7, 9:45 a.m.: The owner of a 2009 Honda parked at Gordon’s Liquors on Watertown Street and when she came out, she found a computer bag with a laptop computer inside and a GPS device were gone, Lawn said. The car had been left unlocked.

Sept. 9, 1:42 p.m.: A man came into the main branch of Watertown Savings Bank and tried to cash a check using a Brazilian passport, Lawn said. When the cashier tried to verify the passport and check, the man turned and ran out of the bank. On the way out he dropped  seven more checks.

Sept. 9, 5:59 p.m.: A woman who parked her 2005 Nissan Altima on Oak Place discovered that a pair of Ralph Lauren reading glasses were stolen from her car, Lawn said. The car’s moonroof had been left open.

Sept. 10, 6:22 p.m.: A man came home and parked his mountain bike unlocked against some bushes and went into his home, Lawn. When he returned, the green and black bike was gone.

Sept. 11, 8:40 p.m.: A man staying at Super 8 Motel on North Beacon Street reported that his ex-girlfriend had come to his room the previous day and took a laptop computer and a camera, Lawn said.
