Watertown Resident Named to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team
Lea Strangio, a sophomore at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and varsity track athlete, earned a 3.5 GPA during the fall semester.

WATERTOWN, MA - A college athlete from Watertown is being celebrated for her performance both on the track and in the classroom.
Lea Strangio, a sophomore at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and member of the varsity track team, was named to the NEWMAC 2016 Women's Track and Field Academic All-Conference for earning a 3.5 GPA in her fall semester. Strangio was one of seven first-time winners from the women's track team, alongside senior Alex Price, junior Elizabeth Walfield and sophomores Gina Capobianco, Brittney Lambert, Amelia Mattesen and Emily Newman.
Graduate student Caitlin Walde, as well as seniors Jessica Orr and Liz Pellegrini, earned the award in all three seasons of eligibility. Senior Julie Tevenan and juniors Liz Hansen and Kimberlee Kocienski were also repeat winners.
