Watertown's 2 Newest Police Officers Sworn In
David Cobe and Feras Irqsusi received their badges at the Police Station this week.
The two newest members of the Watertown Police Department received their badges on Wednesday, and they will hit the streets this week.
David Cobe and Feras Irqsusi took the oath of office from Town Clerk John Flynn, and received their pins from family members.
Police Chief Edward Deveau said the pair came out of a thorough search.

“We did a lot of interviews, and a lot of people didn’t make it,” Deveau said. “And they did well at the academy.”
Cobe and Irqsusi completed the six months of training at the Police Academy, but they still have three months of field training with their fellow Watertown Police officers. Deveau warned the families of the new officers that they will be busy.

“We will give you all the tools to get it right,” Deveau said. “You will not see them a lot during the holidays. There will be a lot of missed events and holidays. They need a lot of support from you.”
Town Manager Michael Driscoll welcomed the two officers on behalf of the town and the Town Council.
“I wish you a long, successful and safe career with the Police Department,” Driscoll said.
Deveau said the Police Department has filled all but one vacancy. They have one officer on military leave, however, and four members of the force are expected to retire in 2012, he added.
