Watertown Savings Assistant Vice President Named a Community Bank Hero

Connie Braceland received the award from Banker and Tradesman for her work at the bank and in her community.

Watertown Savings Bank (WSB) Assistant Vice President and Business Development Officer Connie Braceland was chosen as a Community Bank Hero, an inaugural award given by the Banker and Tradesman publication.

Braceland was one of 16 community bankers chosen for the award. Nominated by her boss, WSB Vice President and Business Development Officer George Bargamian, he said Connie was an obvious choice for this award.

“Individuals and businesses are constantly telling us how happy they are that Connie is here to serve their needs. Her patience and helpfulness when it comes to customers’ needs is extraordinary; her enthusiasm as she approaches each day is remarkable,” Bargamian said.

WSB President Brett Dean added: “She exemplifies in an extraordinary way, the philosophy we are trying to carry out as a mutual bank. Connie is a role model for all of us.”

Braceland has more than 30 years banking experience. She is a well-known member of the Waltham community, currently serving on the boards of the Friends of Waltham Senior Citizens, Reagle Music Theatre, Waltham Boys and Girls Club, Waltham Partnership for Youth, Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce, and as treasurer of the Waltham Rotary Club. Braceland also serves on the local food and wine festival committee, and works the polls on voting days as a warden for the city.

“Connie is a dynamo in the community, with her commitment and dedication, and always with a smile on her face,” said Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy.

Braceland has received numerous awards, including the Robert and Thomas McNamara Community Service award for volunteerism; and the Waltham Women’s Action Alliance 2008 Woman of the Year award.

Braceland earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from Westfield State University. Originally from Newton, she currently resides in Waltham.
