Dean commenced the meeting by noting that 2011 was a great year to be an independent, mutual, community savings bank that is not beholden to Wall Street. He indicated that by focusing on WSB customers, employees, and the communities they serve, and by charging fair and reasonable fees, the bank experienced 40% growth in new checking accounts over the previous year. Dean also remarked that approximately 2,000 customers are now registered to use the new WSB Mobile Banking service. As of December 31, 2011 total assets for the bank were $1.06 billion.

Dean reinforced the bank’s longstanding commitment to remain an independent, mutual, community bank. The bank will also continue its commitment to supporting local, non-profits throughout 2012. At the end of the business meeting Dean demonstrated that commitment by making a $5,000 donation to the Waltham/Watertown Relay for Life, which benefits the American
Cancer Society.
