Watertown Woman Arrested After Speeding Away from Scene of Accident
Woman had a suspended license and left the area after she rear-ended another car.

Watertown Police arrested a 35-year old Watertown woman who tried to avoid being stopped after she rear-ended a car on July 31.
A man driving on Main Street stopped for a pedestrian on Mt. Auburn Street near Taylor Street, when a Ford Taurus hit him from behind, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.
The driver of the Taurus sped away and headed down Baptist Walk. Another driver chased the car, and followed it to the parking lot behind CVS in Watertown Square.

“Another car tried to block the Taurus in, but the driver drove over a curb and sped away,” Lawn said.
A witness called police and told them that he spotted the Tauras and it had a New York license plate, Lawn said.

“An officer observed the car on Boylston Street and pulled her over and placed her under arrest,” Lawn said.
Lisa K. Hamel, 35, of 37 Union St. in Watertown, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of property damage and driving an unregistered motor vehicle, Lawn said.
