Watertown Woman Arrested After Stabbing her Sister

Police said there is no apparent reason for the stabbing, which took place in a Sycamore Street home.

Watertown Police said they do not know why a woman stabbed her sister in their Sycamore Street home on Oct. 1.

Cara Edwards, 42, of 253 Sycamore St. in Watertown was arrested on charges of armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

Police received a call at 2:49 p.m. from a woman saying that she has been stabbed.

“She got stabbed and ran out to get help,” Lawn said. “She called from Belmont Street.”

The woman told police that Edwards picked up a knife and stabbed her in the back. Police administered first aid to the woman, and she was then taken to Mount Auburn Hospital by the Watertown Fire Department.

“She had a superficial wound on her shoulder,” Lawn said.

Why Edwards stabbed her sister is not clear, Lawn said.

“There is no apparent reason (for the stabbing) — no provocation,” Lawn said.

Police went to the home on Sycamore Street and found Edwards lying on a couch, and officers arrested her.
