Watertown Woman Hits Utility Pole, Knocks Out Power to 1,000

The woman was arrested on an OUI charge after striking two cars and the utility pole early Sunday morning.

A drunken driver hit two parked cars and a utility pole on Main Street, knocking out power in the are early on the morning of Sept. 11.

Police were called to the corner of Green and Main streets at 3:10 a.m. on Sunday and officers found several people gathered around two heavily damaged parked cars. Another car sat on the opposite side of the street facing the wrong way, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"The driver of the green Honda SUV struck a parked motor vehicle, pushed it into another vehicle,” Lawn said. “Then it struck a utility pole, and caused a power outage for 1,000 people in the area.”

When officers spoke to the driver, they detected an odor of alcohol on her breath, Lawn said.

Talita C. Marcos, 21, of 46 Coolidge Hill Road in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, Lawn said.
