Watertown's Faire on the Square is Saturday, September 22

Watertown, MA - On Saturday, September 22nd, the 20th Annual Faire on the Square will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Saltonstall Park, in Watertown. The committee planning this year's event is led by Dan McCarthy, owner of DM Productions. McCarthy has been involved with the Faire for 18 years. Knowing this year was an anniversary year, he wanted to make the event that much bigger, and better.

“Growing up in Watertown I always had a sense that it was one big neighborhood because I knew everyone from the mailman (Fred) to the politicians," McCarthy said. "There were great corner stores that everyone would visit: Joe’s Variety, Victoria Spa, Bemis Market, Lauracella’s and of course Corrigan’s Market and Millie’s Variety for us West Enders. I see the Faire as a coming together of the smaller neighborhoods to celebrate the special place we have in Watertown."

Even though he moved to Burlington some years ago, McCarthy never lost his connection with the people and places that "make this town so great." He played and coached hockey in Watertown and used to see Town Manager Mike Driscoll every week when he ran the Ryan Arena. Watertown Police Chief Mike Lawn is a fellow St. Patrick High Alum.

"It’s that special connection you don’t get anywhere else but in your own hometown," McCarthy continued. "I have worked on the entertainment for the Faire for the last 18 years; this year I am honored to be leading the charge to make it the best ever. We have upgraded every phase of the Faire from new Food Trucks to new Amusement and Inflatable vendors. There will be two street performers to dazzle their audiences and a live music lineup that is a must see. I hope everyone will come out to join us on September 22nd.”
