WPD: Woman Struck by Car on Washburn St. Died in December
The 88-year old woman was in a wheelchair when a hit-and-run driver struck her in November. Police seek leads in the case.
Valentina Guiragossian, the woman who was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Washburn Street in November, died in a Marblehead rehabilitation center on Dec. 12, 2010, Watertown Police said Tuesday.
Guiragossian, 88, lived on Washburn Street and was getting ready to go to doctor's appointment when she was struck by a car on Nov. 18. She was in a wheelchair and was waiting for her grandson-in-law to help her into the car.
"Guiragossian died from injuries that resulted from the accident as well as cardiovascular disease," Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn said in a release after a request for information from Watertown Patch made Feb. 4. "This accident remains under investigation by the Watertown Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney’s office."

Police have not caught the driver who struck Guiragossian.
Witnesses did not see a license plate number or a make of the car. The grandson-in-law said a silver car was driving west on Washburn Street, which kept going after striking Guiragossian, and turned right on Parker Street toward Mt. Auburn Street.
