23 More Wayland Coronavirus Cases Detected

The state released new states on May 6 showing a sizeable increase in Wayland's coronavirus case count.

WAYLAND, MA — At least 23 more Wayland residents tested positive for coronavirus over the last week, according to new figures released Wednesday by the state Department of Public Health.

Wayland last released data on coronavirus cases on April 30. At that point, there were 60 confirmed cases in town.

That total rose to 83 on Wednesday.

Statewide, the number of cases rose by over 1,700 on Wednesday to a pandemic total of 72,025. The state also reported 208 new deaths, bringing the pandemic total to 4,420.

As of last check on April 30, five Wayland residents had died of coronavirus. The town's first death, a man in his 60s, was reported April 3 during a Board of Health meeting.
