A Few Questions

Hi Friends,
Two Hands Thirty Minutes today along a wood buffer Boden Lane, West Natick, Massachusetts, (USA) which borders a busy road and parking lot. Wish I had something different to report, but pretty much the same thing: lots of singleuse plastic, "energy drinks," nip bottles, GatorAde, Arizona Ice Tea, cigarette packs, lottery tickets, plastic bags, chip bags, etc. Typical "trash footprint" around here. You have to ask: what's troubling these folks? Where do they get their joy? Where and w/ whom do the grieve? Do they even know how to grieve, get support?
My hunch: they haven't experienced a lot of caring and joy in their lives. There's a disconnect to the earth, others, the community, perhaps to their family. Unmistakable sadness, miseducation, lost hope here. At least that's my theory. Shouldn't we be asking these questions and reaching out to people like this in our community? We could start with the churches and schools. Maybe expand it to other organizations: scout groups, volunteer organizations and agencies, Town Boards, Police, health care system. With a team approach, who knows what we could accomplish. --pat
