Carriage House at Lee’s Farm, which opened in 2014 and is operated by Northbridge, is located at 134 Boston Post Road. The community offers independent living, assisted living, and Avita Memory Care. Community staff helped host the celebration honoring the couple’s seven decades of marriage.

The Beards first met during their senior year of college through mutual friends. John said he first spotted Molly while on the football field and was immediately drawn to her, according to Carriage House.

The couple soon married and went on to build a life together, raising their family in Wayland.

Reflecting on the key to a long marriage, Molly said it comes down to spending time together and sharing interests. “Spend time together, do things together, and share each other’s interests,” she said.

John described what he loves most about his wife simply: “Her being Molly. We have common goals. I love that she is an initiator and a creator.”

When asked about reaching the 70-year milestone, Molly called it a joyful journey. “It’s been fun having our 70 years together,” she said.

The couple said they enjoy life at Carriage House and its strong sense of community. “The best part is the people, the residents and the staff that you click with," John said.
