WAYLAND, MA — Wayland Town Beach officially opens for the 2026 season on May 23, with swimming, boating, lessons and family-friendly events planned throughout the summer.
The town recently released its 2026 Town Beach brochure, which includes information on beach hours, season passes, swim lessons, boat rentals and summer programming.
Located at 25 Parkland Drive, the beach on the North Pond of Lake Cochituate features a 60,000-square-foot swim area monitored by lifeguards, more than 300 feet of waterfront, picnic areas, a new playground and boat rentals including kayaks, canoes, pedal boats and paddleboards.
Lifeguards will be on duty beginning Memorial Day weekend. During the summer season, the beach will offer free events for season pass holders including beach bingo, sand castle builds, live music, kayak lessons, treasure hunts and yoga.
The brochure also highlights swim lessons for preschoolers, youth and adults, along with paddleboard and kayak instruction sessions for ages 14 and older.
Residents and nonresidents can still purchase season passes online. Day passes and seasonal boat rental options are also available.
Adult season passes for Wayland residents cost $50, while youth and senior passes cost $25. Kids under 3 are free. Nonresident adult passes cost $75. You can find passes here.
Town officials noted that water quality at Lake Cochituate is monitored weekly in partnership with the Health Department and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.
