"Ravi Simon is a proven leader who is ready to deliver for the people of the 13th Middlesex district," Gov. Healey said in a statement. "From making sure our schools have the resources they need to advocating for policies that make life more affordable, Ravi always stands up for his community, and that's why I'm excited to support his campaign."

Lt. Gov Driscoll also pointed to affordability as a reason for backing Simon.

"Ravi has the passion to deliver for his community, and I look forward to partnering with him to lower costs and deliver for the people of the 13th Middlesex and all of Massachusetts," Lt. Gov Driscoll said in a statement.

Simon Draws Support Ahead Of Primary

Simon announced his campaign in February after Gentile, a Sudbury Democrat, said he would not run for re-election.

"The Healey-Driscoll Administration has accomplished much in their first term, moving Massachusetts in the right direction," Simon said in a statement. "I am honored to have the support of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and I look forward to working in partnership with them."

Simon has also received endorsements from the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, Massachusetts Nurses Association, Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund and Reproductive Equity Now, according to his campaign.

Gentile, Rep. Simon Cataldo (D-Concord) and Sen. Jamie Eldridge (D-Marlborough) have also endorsed Simon, according to the campaign.

The Democratic primary is scheduled for Sept. 1.
