WAYLAND, MA — Firefighters were working to contain a second-alarm house fire on Peck Avenue Friday afternoon.
The Wayland Fire Department asked residents to avoid the area while local crews and mutual aid partners remained at the scene. Officials said firefighters and emergency apparatus needed additional space to operate safely.
The department thanked its mutual aid partners for assisting with the response.
No information was immediately released about injuries, the extent of the damage or the cause of the fire.
Fire officials also reminded residents to ensure their homes have working smoke detectors.
