Sudbury Community Food Pantry To Reopen After Renovations

SUDBURY, MA — A community food pantry in Wayland will officially reopen after weeks of renovations.

The Sudbury Community Food Pantry will reopen Friday at 534 Boston Post Rd. after renovations began Jul. 15. The work included installing rooftop solar panels, which the organization said will lower electricity costs and let it direct more money toward serving clients.

A Sudbury-based painter, Target Painting and Contracting, also donated labor, materials and other resources to repaint the building's exterior, according to an announcement from the pantry late last month.

"Their generosity allows us to direct more of our resources toward fighting hunger in our community," pantry officials said.

Clients can now reserve a pickup time through the Sudbury Community Food Pantry website. The pantry distributes fresh and shelf-stable food, meat, produce and personal care products to people in need without geographic restrictions or eligibility documentation.

The volunteer-run organization is normally open from noon to 2:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Clients may receive food twice per calendar month, according to the pantry's pickup guidelines.

The pantry moved to Wayland in 2025 after operating in Sudbury for more than three decades. The larger building was expected to improve workflow for its 175 volunteers as the organization distributed more than 30,000 bags of food annually to clients from 85 communities.
