Claypit Hill School Destination Imagination Team Heads for Tennessee Again
Wayland 5th grade Destination Imagination team raises money to attend global finals in Tennessee for second year in a row.

Theyβre on their way... again! The Wayland Wolves, a group of seven 5th graders from Claypit Hill School, placed second at the Destination Imagination (DI) state competition at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on March 28th, earning them a spot at the Global Finalβs, which will be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville from May 20β23.
The Destination Imagination program encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the arts and service learning. All of the programs are project based, teaching the creative process from imagination to innovation.
This is the same team that went all the way to the global competition last year. This year, the team chose the technical βCreature Featureβ challenge which meant that they had to build a creature that is able to perform team-chosen actions, including moving, communicating and consuming. In addition, they had to create and present a story of adventure with their creature as a character.

The team members are Nadia Calder, Alex Camacho, Lexi Harris, Taylor McGuire, Lily Noyes, Max Schreiber and Isabelle Wang and their managers/coaches are Christine Chiang and Scott Harris. They will now be representing Massachusetts at the Destination Imagination Global Finals where they will compete against winners from the US and over 30 other countries.
This is a great opportunity for the team but it is also an expensive one. The kids need to raise nearly $8,000 to pay for registration and travel. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
