WAYLAND, MA — Welcome to the April 18 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up during the week in Patch communities between Wayland and Worcester.

Here's what to know for the week of April 18:


Wayland

The First Parish in Wayland will hold an Earth Day picnic on Friday. Local residents are invited to sit out on the front lawn, enjoy a picnic lunch and take part in games, plantings and a reflection on the church's environmental justice efforts.

Worcester

A Worcester School Committee subcommittee that's been searching for Superintendent Maureen Binienda's replacement with unveil the three finalists at a meeting set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The school committee could vote to choose the final candidate before the end of April.

Marlborough

The Marlborough Historical Commission this spring is making a push to mark historical homes across the city. The commission is looking for a company to help with the effort by manufacturing signs to affix to homes. If that's you — or you know a company that can help — contact the historical commission.

Milford

Milford Beautification Day is on Saturday, offering volunteer opportunities for businesses, community groups and individuals. The event, which includes refreshments, begins at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Find out more here.

Westborough

The Westborough Rotary Club and the Committee on the Environment will be holding a plastic film recycling event on Saturday at the Kohl's in Northborough (8 to 9 a.m. behind the store). You can bring hard-to-recycle plastics like cereal bags, Ziploc bags and bubble wrap. Find out more here.

Sudbury

The town's annual roadside cleanup event happens Saturday. Anyone who wants to pitch in can sign up to adopt a street in town. After the pickup, the town will pick up garbage bags left along the adopted street. Find details here.

Shrewsbury

The Shrewsbury Parks & Recreation's Keep Shrewsbury Beautiful chapter Earth Day litter pickup will happen Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Residents can pick a park, street or other spot around town to focus on.
