Fascinated With Mt. Everest, Wayland Native Finally Hikes It
This avid hiker has always wanted to hike Mt. Everest, and now he will, for a cause dear to his heart.
WAYLAND, MA—Ryan Wade, who is now 38, says as an avid hiker, he's had a self-described obsession with Mt. Everest.
Now, for a cause and subject very close to his heart, Wade will join a team of walkers to climb that very mountain, with Wade raising money to fight cancer.
Wade's goal is to raise $10,000 for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation’s life-extending cancer research. He has already exceeded that goal, bringing in more than $11,000.
The Wayland native writes on his fundraising page, "I’ve been fascinated by the mountain since reading Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air when I was in high school. For much of the past 8 years I’ve worked at Takeda Oncology and been surrounded by like-minded colleagues who are driven to find a cure for cancer. I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to meet people living with multiple myeloma and help share their stories through the work that I do."
All of the funds raised from Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma will go directly to the MMRF’s research to fast track cures.
