Wayland Police Will Be Focus Of Tuesday Townwide Forum
The search for a new Wayland police chief and other public safety issues will be discussed at the Nov. 16 event.
WAYLAND, MA — Wayland residents will get a chance to discuss the future of the police department at an upcoming town-sponsored forum.
On Tuesday, a live "Policing in Wayland" forum will cover a variety of public safety items, including the search for a new police chief and general thoughts on policing in town.
During the forum, the town will release the results of two recent surveys: one asking for input on whom the town's new chief should be, the other about policing generally in Wayland.

Former Wayland chief Patrick Swanick retired one year ago, and Sean Gibbons, a lieutenant in the department, took over as interim chief. Swanick spent 30 years with Wayland police, working his way up to chief from 911 dispatcher.
The policing forum will be limited to 500 people, but will also be broadcast live on YouTube and WayCam. Sign up to attend the event on the town website.
